Dalrymple Park (Municipal)
Bayfield, WI 54814
Phone: 715-779-5712 (no reservations)
A place like Dalrymple reminds you why basic frontcountry camping can be such a good time. It also speaks toward the character of the City of Bayfield, as this humble city-owned and managed property is on a piece of lakefront real estate that must send local developers into fits each time they drive by. No-frills sites here are spacious and heavily wooded, so you won't know there are 29 other tents and RVs within a mile of you. Walk down to the overlooks in the morning for expansive views of old Gitchi Gummi. The first-come, first-served campground is an easily bikeable mile away from the heart of town, but it nonetheless feels drastically removed from the city's burgeoning tourist vibe. Copious firewood is always available, and of course, the $15/night price tag is a plus. The campground is located on Lake Superior, 1 mile north of Bayfield on Highway 13.
