Bayfield County Health Department Public Health Care Services

Public Health services available to residents of Bayfield County.

Immunizations

Immunizations are available at no cost to infants and children 18 and under. Adult immunizations are available for a fee (Tetanus boosters, flu shots, Hepatitis B). Immunizations are done by appointment at the Health Department office. We also provide immunizations along with WIC services.

Fluoride Supplement Program

Children to age 5 are eligible for fluoride supplements if the household drinking water is deficient in fluoride.

Postpartum/Newborn Home Visits

Public Health Nurse home visits are provided to any parent and newborns. The nurse visits are in the home to provide information, care and support after the birth of a baby.

ABC Healthy Families

Home visitation program that provides support and information about infant development, parenting and more to families with young children in Bayfield County.

Prenatal Care Coordination

A Public Health Nurse will work with pregnant clients throughout pregnancy. The nurse visits to provide health pregnancy education and support.

WI Women’s Cancer Control Program

This program provides free women’s cancer screening services (mammograms, breast exams, Pap test and pelvic exam and other select diagnostic tests) to those who qualify by age, income and uninsured/underinsured guidelines.

Lead Screening

No-cost screening for lead poisoning offered to any children to age 6.

Health and Wellness Education

to individuals or groups, schools, daycares, etc.

Tuberculosis skin testing

Available by appointment.

Well Water Testing

Well testing kits are available to personal residences with pregnant women or children under age 2 in the home.
