Child Support Services
The Bayfield County Child Support agency can help you:
- Establish paternity, if necessary
- Locate the non-custodial parent to establish or enforce a child support order
- Obtain a court order for child support and health insurance to be provided by the non-custodial parent
- Collect court-ordered child support and health insurance payments on behalf of your child(ren)
Please note that child support agencies do not handle child custody or physical placement (visitation) issues. Also, the child support attorney who appears at a child support hearing represents the State of Wisconsin, not individual parents. Child support services provided by this attorney do not create an attorney-client relationship.
State Website Offers Parents Better Payment Information
The Department of Workforce Development has developed a new website for parents who receive or pay child support. The new service is reported to be a vast improvement on the information available to parents via phone.
The website displays payment information for the past 60 days, including the date of payment, the source, and how the payment was applied. Information on the website is updated daily except Sundays and holidays. To protect confidentiality, only individuals making or receiving support payments can register for this service.
The registration is a two step process. First, parents sign up on the DWD website listed above and provide all information as prompted. DWD will then assign an access code, called the Kids Key, which will be mailed to the parent's home address. Once the parent receives the Kids Key, he or she can again access the website to complete the registration process.
