Wisconsin's Traveling Foster/Adoptive Quilt

The Bayfield County Department of Human Services is proud to announce that they are currently in charge of sharing Wisconsin’s 2006 Traveling Foster/Adoptive Quilt.  The quilt will be shown at local libraries during the months of February and March 2007.  Please contact your local library to find out when the Traveling Foster/Adoptive Quilt will be displayed in your area.

Each block of this quilt tells the story of a child or children in Wisconsin who suffered from abuse or neglect and then were placed in foster care.  The pictures included on the quilt were drawn by these children and one square was designed by a Bayfield County child.  The Tumbling Block pattern represents the turmoil, uncertainty, and obstacles that the children, their birth families, and their foster/adoptive families have encountered.

Some of the children represented in the quilt have returned to their biological families, some were adopted, and some are still uncertain of their future.  All want to be loved unconditionally.

If you would like to become a Bayfield County foster parent, please contact Bayfield County Department Human Services at 373-6144 and ask to talk to a foster care coordinator.
