Who can exhibit at the Bayfield County Fair?

Free - Pullorum testing for Poultry Exhibitors

Premium Lists are available!

To enter something in the Fair, you must first decide if your items belong in Open Class or Junior Class.

Junior Class
If you belong to a Bayfield County youth club such as 4-H, FFA,  Scouts, or any other club with Adult
Supervision, and are in grades 3-13, THEN you enter in JUNIOR Classes.

Open Class

If you are  a youth in grades 3-13, who does not belong to any organized club,

THEN you enter in OPEN Class.

If you are an Adult,

THEN you enter in OPEN Class.

The Next Steps

You must look for the Department your item or items fit into.  The animal categories are pretty self-explanatory, others you may have to look a little bit through the premium list to figure it out.

Then you find the Class Letter and the lot number.

For Example: If you are an ADULT with hand knitted slippers you would like to enter in the Fair.  You would enter it in DEPARTMENT 27, CLASS A, LOT 1.   If you were a 4-H YOUTH, in Grade 6, you would enter  them in DEPARTMENT 127, CLASS A, LOT 2.

If you have Two items the same, you may ONLY enter ONE in each LOT number

Fill out the Bayfield County Fair Entry Form, with your personal information and your list of entries.

Enclose the appropriate dollar amount and mail or drop off the entry form at the Fair office-located in the Bayfiled County Courthouse in the UW-Extension Office on the 2nd Floor before July 25, 2008

Entry Fees

For those entering in the Junior Class portion of the Fair the entry fee is $3.*

For those entering in the Open class portion of the Fair the entry fee is $7. *

* Entry Fee includes a season pass to the Fair.

The entry fee stays the same regardless of how many different items you enter.

The dollar amounts listed behind each LOT item is The dollar amount that you could win (premiums); depending on the placing your item receives.

Entry Tags

Junior and Open Class Entry tags (for all of the items that you listed on your entry form) are usually available to be picked up during the week before the Fair. Entry tags will NOT be mailed. If you can not pick up your entry tags, they will be brought to the Fair Grounds

4-H Leaders should pick up their entire club's entry tags and distribute them. Please do not have individual 4-Her's stop at the office to pick them up.

Your Entries

Please attach the entry tag to the corresponding entry.

Entries should be brought to the Fair Grounds in Iron River, WI on the first day of the Fair - Thursday,August 21, 2008 between the hours of Noon and 7 pm.

If you have a lot of entries, please arrive at the Exhibit Hall by 6:30 pm.

If for some reason you do not bring an item to the Fair, please turn the entry tag into the Superintendent at the Fair Grounds and tell them it is a "No Show".

Your entries will stay at the Fair until Sunday, August 24th. The Exhibit Hall will be closed from 5 - 5:30 pm on Sunday, August 24th, to prepare the exhibits for release. Your exhibits will be available for you to pick up from 5:30 to 7 pm.

Judging

Judging of all of the Exhibits takes place on Friday, August 22nd starting at 9 am except for Junior Dogs and Junior & Open Dairy.

Please be patient for your item to be judged. You may stay to watch your item(s) be judged, please follow the Tips for Watching Judging.

The items entered in the Junior Class will be judged on the Danish System. This means that unless the item is disqualified for some reason, it will recieve a placing/ribbon/premium.
