MEETING TIME

The BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT meets on the last Thursday of the Month except for November and December. The BOARD meets at 9:00 AM in the County Board Room in the Court House on 6th Street East in Washburn, WI.

On occasion the BOARD may meet at another time and location so please check with the Zoning Department at (715)373-6138 to confirm the time and location of the meeting you are interested in attending.

DEADLINES

APPEALS

An appeal notice shall be filed with the Zoning Administrator and the Board of Adjustment within 30 days from the date of the order of the decision from which the appeal is being made. This 30 day right of appeal applies to all decisions of the Zoning Administrator and/or Assistant Zoning Administrator, the Zoning Committee, or the Board of Adjustment. All appeals of decisions of the Board of Adjustment are filed as a Writ of Certiorari with the Bayfield County Circuit Court.

VARIANCES

A variance is an appeal from the Bayfield County Zoning Ordinance. An application for a variance must be filed with the Board of Adjustment by the 3rd Wednesday prior to the hearing date.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICES

The BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT'S Public Hearing notice is published in The County Journal two consecutive weeks before BOARD holds a meeting. The BOARD also notifies all parties in interest, the local town board, and the notice is posted in 3 public places in the town. If the issue involves a shoreland or floodplain area a copy of the notice is also sent to the appropriate area office of the Department of Natural Resources at least 10 days prior to the hearing.
