Bayfield County recently hosted a transportation summit. The day-long workshop assisted attendees to understand the value and importance of transportation, and provide insight as to how transportation services may be delivered differently in the future. A mini-van provides group trips each Friday from the Iron River area to Ashland. Reservations are required and there is a nominal fee charged for this service.
A small bus operated by Namekagon Transit provides weekly service on Tuesdays from the Barnes, Drummond and Cable communities to Hayward. Reservations are not required but are helpful; there is a nominal fee charged for this service.
Demand responsive, door to door service in the Washburn area operates Monday through Friday. Reservations can be made by calling 715-682-9664, which is the Bay Area Rural Transit (BART) dispatch. There is a nominal fee charged for this service.
Rides can be provided for non-emergency appointments to people over the age of 60 or disabled individuals who have no other access to transportation. Prior authorization is required, and there is a copayment charged for this service.
