  9. Point to La Pointe Cliff Swim

    The 2021 Point to LaPointe Swim, hosted by the Recreation and Fitness Resources as a fundraiser for the Bayfield Rec Center, is changing due to COVID-19. The Point to LaPointe - 2021 Cliff Swim will deliver a challenging Lake Superior course for swimmers and breathtaking views for spectators atop Bayfield's famous 75' cliffs. Saturday, August 7, 2021, offers a chance of a lifetime for swimmers and spectators alike! This one time, coastal, 5k triangular loop course is appropriate for the die-hard competitor and regular water enthusiasts alike. The Point to LaPointe - 2021 Cliff Swim provides a unique opportunity for spectators to view the swim from the scenic Brownstone Trail, walking distance from the race start. The trail follows an old railroad grade just feet from the cliff’s edge, with a birdseye view 75' above Lake Superior. Viewing is also available from the cliffs at Wild Rice Retreat.

On the first day we’ll get our feet wet and learn the basics of river canoeing such as strokes, navigation, and running rapids starting from the Stones Bridge landing and ending at the Winneboujou landing. On the second day we’ll put our knowledge to the test and run some of the iconic ledge rapids that make the Brule famous. Superior Adventures is for youth in 6th-9th grade.
