  2. Fun in the Forest - Christmas Benefit ATV Ride

    October 18, 2019, 9:00 AM - October 19, 2019 @ Lakewoods Resort

    Ride the renowned ATV forest trails in the Cable & Hayward area. Your $20 donation plus a gift of an unwrapped present or food item will put you on the trail visiting your choice of area restaurants and pit stops, PLUS entry into all the activities & great Prize Party at Lakewoods. You may register and drop off your gift of food or presents at Lakewoods Resort anytime starting Thursday or during the Friday pre-event reception 6 pm to 8 pm in The Lakewoods Buck's Bar. Registration opens Saturday morning at 8 am to 9:30 am. The ride starts anytime after your Registration for a self-guided tour of the ATV trails in Ashland, Bayfield and Sawyer Counties. A 10 am Kick Off Ceremony is held in front of Lakewoods Saturday Morning. After the trail, the fun keeps going Saturday night at the Prize Party from 5 - 8 pm. Registration includes delicious eats from 6-8 pm. There is also a BIG MONEY raffle plus door prizes and games. Then prepare to dance the night away with live entertainmen

    Welcome to the Oulu Corn Maze! We are located in northern Wisconsin, not far from the shores of Lake Superior. Just a short 40 minute ride from Duluth/Superior or 45 minutes from Ashland or Hayward. The field is tucked away in beautiful Bayfield county on Ken Johnson’s farm. When you get here, come right into the barn and get your ticket to the maze. Hop on the wagon for a hayride up to the corn field. Once at the maze you will begin your hunt for the hidden posts. After your adventure, stop back in the barn for some warm apple cider or a cup of hot cocoa. You can hangout, visit or meet some of our animals friends. The maze is perfect for a fun day with the family, an adventure with your friends or a romantic walk with your sweetheart. We’ll see you at the maze! Bring your camera and wear your boots.

Ashwabay starting at 2:00 PM. Following the ride we will convene at the South Shore Brewery & Taphouse for an awesome MTB movie, some beverages, popcorn, information and all around good times. There will be a food truck for those interested in purchasing a post-ride dinner.     With insight from Ojibwe elders, biologists and artist Rabbet Before Horses Strickland, this film captures enduring spiritual connections with Brother Wolf, the lasting bonds and responsibilities shared between native people and the wolf species, and the opportunities and challenges presented by the reintroduction and protection of the animals across reservation lands. This film screening is one of the first events for Wolf Awareness Week 2019.

    Explore the season of autumn by painting landscapes using pastel sticks (not oil pastels), layering the pigment on paper. Use your own photos as inspiration, focusing on composition, color and texture to create dazzling paintings. The instructor will demonstrate pastel painting techniques on a variety of papers. Explore the exhibit at Cable Natural History Museum. This class is for all levels, though basic drawing experience is helpful. Please note: this class is being offered two days in a row. You may sign up for one or both. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Museum. You may bring a sack lunch or lunch may be ordered in class from a local catering establishment.   12. Washburn Zombie Days: Game of Bones - Winter is Coming!

    Washburn Zombie Days is a family celebration of everything “Halloween.” It is an annual event that takes place on the weekend before Halloween.   18. Cable Trunk or Treat!

    October 31, 2019, 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM @ Downtown Cable

    Trunk or Treat involves the Cable Area Community coming together so that children can safely trick-or treat out of the decorated trunks of cars, and for rural residents to also participate in the festivities! Last year’s inaugural event saw over 100 kids and 30 trunks decked out with lights, props, sound effects and some amazing costumes! The public is welcome to come with decorated trunks or bring your trick-or-treaters to downtown Cable on October 31st from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM. County Hwy M and Kavanaugh Rd in Cable will be closed to through traffic, so if your vehicle is participating in the event, please enter prior to 4:30 to set up. If you are bringing children, please use the detour and park in the Municipal Public Lot off Randysek Road behind Brick House Cafe. There will be lots of trunks, treats, a great bon fire, scary music and Witches dancing the “Witches Dance”! Everyone is welcome to participate. This will be a rain or shine event.
