  2. 25th Annual Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race

    February 2, 2019 - February 3, 2019 @ 11 miles north of downtown Bayfield at the Echo Valley Gravel Pit on State Highway 13

    The 24th Annual Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 2 and 3, 2019. Races begin at 10am on both days, with half of the total race distance completed each day. There are two main races: an 10-dog, 80-mile race and a 6 dog, 60-mile race. There’s also a 40-mile Sportsmens’ Race, a 6 to 8-mile Family Race and a 6 to 8-mile Youth Race (16 and under). Multiple spectator locations are available with amenities including a warming tent, concessions and fires to keep warm by.

    100% Payout for the largest fish in each category. Game Fish: Northern,Walleye & Bass. Pan Fish: Crappie,Blue Gill & Perch. Registration at Chopper’s no later than 9:00 am February 2nd. Entry Fee $10.00 Location - Inland lakes only. No private lakes. All fish to be registered between 3 - 5 pm at Chopper’s All fish scored by weight No frozen fish allowed Raffle Drawing at 5:30 Kids 12 and under prize table. WI State Fishing rules apply.

  4. Mt. Ashwabay Summit Ski Race

    February 2, 2019, All Day @ Mt Ashwabay Ski & Recreation Area

    This Race offers a 3.5k youth, 8k/11k adult pursuit race (this is worldcup style, transition area to switch skis and poles), 8k adult classic, 11k adult skate, and 0.5k kids (8 and under) fun race. Classic and skating lanes are provided throughout the skate courses. Middle School and High School racers are encouraged to do the 3.5k race. Home-baked cookies go to all finishers. The overall male and female winner of each race receive a homemade pie or plate-sized cookie bar.
